DeN has been an idea growing inside the mind of Greg Arce for the past several years. Like a painful tumor, it gnawed its way out and finally made its full appearance in December of 1995.

The script got the attention of Preferred Artists (a hight level writer's agency) where they said the script sells itself and that is politically incorrect to the nth degree. Through this agency, the script has found its way into the hands of Miramax.

After having Hollywood insiders tell him that the script should be toned down, Greg decided to ride the wave of new technology and shoot it his way, ala digital. DeN was shot with a Canon XL-1 and edited on Macs using Final Cut Pro. The shoot took an entire month in the lonely town of Jerome, Arizona.

The film was completed June 15th, 2001 and has since been featured in several film festivals. It has already garnered a reputation of controversy by having a near fist-fight break out at its first screening. It has also been the target of two different demonstrations during other film festivals, even bringing out the police to break things up. Recently, Greg and DeN were featured on a segment of NEXT, a show on CNN which aired on Oscar weekend.
